Start your journey

Two ways to start with us.

Whether you've just graduated or are still studying, we have a structured path for you — a two-year Graduate Development Programme, or a hands-on Vacation Work placement to meet your university's requirements.

How we work

Real projects. Real support.

Whether you're with us for six weeks or two years, this is how we bring junior practitioners into live project work — one task at a time, with the guidance and time you need to do it properly.

1

You're assigned a task

On a live project — whatever Letlou is working on at the time. The work follows the project, not a fixed curriculum.

2

Briefing & guidance

A senior engineer walks you through the task — context, expectations, and what "good" looks like.

3

Execute, with time to learn

A defined timeline with room for research — and regular check-ins along the way, not just at the end.

4

Review & feedback

Your work is reviewed and signed off, becoming part of your growing track record.

This cycle repeats, project after project

Annual intake

Graduate Development Programme

You won't be asked to pick a specialism on day one. Over your two years, the "How we work" cycle above repeats across whatever Letlou's project pipeline looks like at the time — and that means you'll build genuine roundedness across three lenses:

Technical Design

Modelling, performance analysis, and understanding how systems work on paper — technical documentation, simulation runs, and grid compliance reviews.

On-Site Reality

Seeing how systems work in the field — site inspections, construction monitoring, and verifying that what's built matches what was designed.

Strategic Advisory

Understanding the "why" — risk, finance, due diligence, and what makes a project bankable and successful.

Every project Letlou takes on touches at least one of these lenses — sometimes all three. You don't master one and move on; you build all three, repeatedly, across different projects. That's what makes a well-rounded consultant.

Annual Intake

Graduate Development Programme

Structured supervision: Every graduate is paired with a senior engineer who reviews your work, answers questions, and signs off your ECSA experience log. You're never alone.

Student Vacation Work Programme

2nd–4th year student Degrees/ Diplomas South African Universities / Universities of Technology Apply Jan–Mar · placed Jun or Dec
  • Supporting technical documentation and report preparation
  • Assisting with project research and data review
  • Exposure to live energy and infrastructure project work, under supervision
You'll go through the "How we work" cycle above too — just on a smaller scale. In 4–6 weeks, that's typically one or two full cycles: a real task, a briefing from a senior engineer, time to work on it properly, and feedback on what you produced. It's a genuine (if compact) taste of professional practice — and useful material for your vacation work report.
